School of Skills in Japan

Japan FlagFirst and foremost, I hope everyone had a great summer!

We have just returned from a very successful trip to Japan. We held clinics in Sakai City and a tournament is held every year between Japan and Korea. This year we were fortunate enough to be one of the first to participate in a brand new state of the art facility built by Mizuno. Next year, School of Skills will be a participant in this tournament. Our goal is to take two teams annually and players will stay with host families from Japan in a foreign exchange program.

Kevin Ortiz, who has been in the School of Skills program since he was seven, is now 13 and played for the Sakai B team. The team went undefeated and lost in the finals. Kevin made his team, himself and School of Skills proud as he was selected the MVP of the tournament! Kevin’s hard work was also rewarded by having been followed by all of the kids and he even signed several autographs. Way to go Kevin!

We were also able to spend time sight seeing in Osaka, and Tokyo. It was a great experience for the Ortiz family and myself. Keep checking our website as pictures of our trip will be available soon.

In other news, we are extremely proud to announce our new partnership with Nike. They will be providing all of our uniforms, apparel, gear and shoes at a 20% discount to School of Skills students and family members. We are also pleased to announce our new partnership with Velocity. Details will follow as more information becomes available to us.

Lastly, we will be performing during half times at local high schools in the area. Stay tuned!
